The firmware update is being distributed to Arris’ customers, but is also available to the wider community through a dedicated website and is the first official firmware release from Arris.
Arris is working on a firmware release for the Arris IoT Hub, and its software will be updated regularly for a couple of months as it works on the next iteration of the device, which is due out in September.
Arrips’ IoT Hub has been the subject of many rumors and speculation, with Arris releasing a raft of new devices and services over the past year, including the Nest thermostat and the smart fridge, which could all be headed to Arrive’s new smart home device.
In its announcement of the IoT Hub firmware update, Arris said the IoT HomeLink was designed with smart home automation in mind, with a central hub which allows Arris customers to connect their devices together, as well as the ability to monitor and control the devices remotely.
Arrive’s IoT Hub is expected to arrive at Arrive retail stores in the second half of 2018.
